Kurobuta takes its inspiration from the Izakayas of Japan, where tapas-style plates are served to accompany drinks in a casual setting. Originally a pop up, Kurobuta has been such a hit with diners who fell for the unique chilled out ambience and exceptional Japanese food, it’s now a permanent fixture in London’s Marble Arch and Chelsea’s Kings Road.

With Scott Hallsworth (ex Head Chef of the legendary Nobu, in London and in his native Australia) at the helm, the food is reliably out of this world. A highly skilled and experienced exponent of Japanese cuisine, Scott has designed an all-day menu inspired by his passion for pushing gastronomic boundaries and giving Japanese classics a contemporary, sometimes Western, twist.

In 2013, Scott began devising the Kurobuta concept. Kurobuta would be a contemporary version of the traditional Japanese izakaya – a relaxed social setting similar to a pub where guests linger over a drink and tapas style food.  Kurobuta began its life as a pop-up on the Kings Road. This stripped-back rock ‘n’ roll concept serving exemplary Japanese food with Scott’s signature “East Meets West” stamp proved such a great success with the public that now Kurobuta has two permanent fixtures in London’s Marble Arch and Chelsea’s Kings Road.
